Personal Statement
Prof. Celina Mojisola Adewunmi is a seasoned sport and exercise psychologist, and a Professor in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, University of Lagos. She had her B. Sc (1988), M.Sc.Ed. (1989), and Ph.D (2006) all from the University of Lagos.
She is a member of International Society of Sports Psychology (ISSP), Sports Psychology Association of Nigeria (SPAN), Association of Applied Sports Psychology (AASP), Nigeria Association of Physical Health Education and Recreation (NAPHER), International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD), Member Organisation for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD), Member Women Advancement Forum International Exchanges, Research and Academia (WAFIRA) For female academics and researchers, Chairperson/Adviser Foundation for A Better Environment (FABE) International Foundation, Foundation Fellow Council of Institute of Corporate Administrator (FCAI). She has published in reputable journals at local, national and international levels.
Prof. (Mrs.) C.M Adewunmi has served and presently serving in many capacities in the University such as elected member of the senate, senate representative at the University of Lagos Sports Council, Post-Graduate Coordinator and Departmental Representative at the Post-Graduate board, Hall warden, Hall Mistress, board member University of Lagos Women Society, board member School of Post-Graduate studies University of Lagos, to mention a few. She is also staff adviser, University of Lagos Students Celestial Church of Christ (CELELAG).
She has been honoured with numerous awards and recognitions home and abroad some which are the merit award by the National Council of Women Society, Surulere Chapter in recognition of her distinction in voluntary service to the Association and community on youth empowerment, merit award as the best interactional lecturer in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, merit award as the best cohort adviser of the year, merit award for outstanding contributions towards academic pursuit, and so on. She was given a special recognition award for excellence by the Celestial Honours and Merit Award International.
She has produced different categories of students at undergraduate, masters, and PhD levels. Due to her immense commitment to the growth of youths both nationally and internationally she was the matron of Celestial Youth Aid Programme Initiative (CEYAP) and currently a member of Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) forum sub-committee. She is happily married with wonderful children.
She also has a great interest in helping the less privileged in society, and in line with this she initiated a project where she provided financial assistance to indigent students in the University of Lagos.
